The Bean to Cup Cappuccino Machines on the market today emulate the quality drinks of the traditional espresso machines, seen in High Street Coffee Shops, at the touch of a button. They produce espresso coffee by forcing a ram through a ground coffee and hot water mixture. Many of these machines also have a separate steam arm, which means the milk needs to be frothed separately. However, some systems have integral milk foamers, enabling the machines to produce cappuccino, latte and other milk based drinks which makes them perfect for the office environment.
There are three types of Bean to Cup Cappuccino machines : one uses instant products only, the second type uses a combination of instant products and freshly ground beans and the third uses all fresh ingredients. The machines in the first group, ie, instant products can have a number of canisters and this will determine the variety of drinks on offer. One canister machines usually just produce black coffee or hot chocolate, through to the four canister machines that can produce up to eight different drinks, eg, black and white coffee, cappuccino, latte, hot chocolate and decaffeinated coffee. This type of machine is good where high volumes of drinks are dispensed in a short space of time.
The second type of machine, which uses a combination of ingredients, is similar to the first in that many of the products are instant. However, it has the added benefit of using coffee beans, which can either be pre-ground or ground on demand depending on the type of machine you have. The third type of machine, which is becoming more and more popular, uses all fresh ingredients. They use coffee beans, again pre-ground or ground on demand housed in a bean hopper and fresh milk, which is generally kept in a refrigerated tank on the side of the machine. Some machines can also dispense leaf tea. The use of fresh ingredients means that a wide range of quality and speciality drinks can be offered. All these machines can be stand alone systems, ie, tank fed, but most need to be plumbed into the mains water supply.
