Roast and Ground Vending Machines

Vending Machine/Machines

According to the AVA, the Automatic Vending Association, the UK spends £1.5 billion every year on products bought from vending equipment. Daily, the figures are just as large – 8 million cups of coffee and 2m cups of tea purchased from hot drink vending machines. Vending, or automatic retailing as it is becoming known, covers a variety of vending equipment - from a small coffee machine which dispenses a cappuccino at the touch of a button to the large refrigerated food and snack vending machines seen in leisure centres, shopping centres and corporate canteens offering a plethora of products.

It is not just chocolate, crisps and canned drinks that can be dispensed from vending equipment. Technologies of today have enabled vending manufacturers to construct vending equipment which have a number of compartments that are maintained at different temperatures. This now allows one machine to snack vend (ie, crisps and chocolate) which need an ambient temperature with other healthy vending products (ie, sandwiches and chilled dishes) which need a lower temperature.

One of the main advantages of installing vending equipment is its convenience – food, drinks or snacks can be dispensed 24 hours a day. This is great vending solution where you have staff in an office or leisure centre for long periods of the day or over night, when other food outlets are closed.

A vending machine also has time-saving implications. Compare the time involved in making a cup of tea or coffee from scratch or popping out to the local shops to pick up a sandwich, with the ease of purchasing fresh produce from a vending machine in your building.

When considering buying a vending machine, there are a number of key questions that need to be asked to ensure the correct vending solution is obtained, for example, the numbers of people using the machine and the typical hours that the machine will be in service. Under-estimating vending sales will very quickly become apparent as the machine is likely to constantly be out of stock or breaking down from over use. Vending machine locations may also affect its usage. Both electrical and water supplies may be needed for vending machines and this may dictate where they are located.

Other considerations also include whether the purchaser will ask a vending machine operator to load, clean and maintain the machine – a contract operation or whether they are prepared to do this themselves – a DIY operation. This will depend if the purchaser has the time or resources to carry this out themselves.

Once the decision has been made that a vending machine is required, the final decision is how to pay for it. There are a number of options – lease, rental or purchase. All these options are explained on Coffee Machine Rental page of this website.
