We’re an independent, family-run business

Our friendly team are all experts in their field with a passion for great coffee and fabulous customer service

Our story

Roast & Ground was founded in 2002 by Richard Gray, a long-time coffee connoisseur.

Previously commercial director and co-founder of Simply Drinks, he saw an opportunity to set a new standard for workplace coffee with top quality machines, freshly roasted, hand-selected coffee and industry-leading service.

Catherine Gray has been involved in Roast & Ground from the start - firstly in conjunction with her marketing services agency The Bottom Line, and latterly working wholly within the business, upholding our clear customer focus and commitment to excellence.

Their vision was that Roast & Ground would delight customers and their colleagues by providing coffee that (unusually for the time!) was worth staying in the office for - a vision that inspires us to this day.

Today the Grays form the heart of Roast & Ground, supported by a proficient team, many of whom Richard and Catherine are proud to say have been with the company for many years.

Our customer services team

This team will help you choose the right solution for every area of your office.

They’ll oversee your machine order specifications and manage the ordering process - arranging your lease, ordering machines to your own specification, and liaising with the technical team for site visits and installation as necessary.

Once you’re on board, they’ll be in touch regularly to check you’re happy with your drinks and assist with orders of coffee and other consumables.

Ultimately their role is to make sure you’re happy every step of the way!

Our machine support team

These are the people who really matter once you’re on board with us.

Their quick response (six hours in London and the South East, 24 hours outside, but often far quicker) makes a huge difference if or when things go wrong.

Our engineers are absolute experts in their field and have worked with us for over 20 years combined. Setting up a machine is both an art and a skill, demanding technical know-how, and an understanding of our coffee and how it performs in the different machines.

These guys will also visit regularly to keep your machine in tip-top condition and in the event of any breakdown, will be on site to fix it for you.

Stock, warehouse and deliveries

You’d be surprised what it takes to deliver great tasting coffee at work.

Aside from making sure you have the right equipment installed and operating brilliantly, we have the online shop and next day consumables delivery side of the business.

Our stock, warehouse and deliveries team makes sure we have all the products you want to buy, at the right price, in the warehouse at the right time, ready to be delivered to you next day.

It’s a fine balance that needs careful management especially when you’re providing freshly roasted coffee.

Our partners

We work with machine suppliers, coffee roasters, service partners and other great people to deliver our end-to-end service.

In fact, we’ve worked with many of the same people since Roast & Ground began.

Often they’re independent, family-run businesses just like ours. We like that they’re flexible, responsive decision makers, who share a similar ethos and passion for customer service.

We've been providing office coffee machines and support to businesses in London and the South East, as well as national accounts, since 2002.

Here’s what our customers have to say about us.

Patient, courteous and knowledgeable.
